Shine Park

DO NOT STAY HERE The rooms were okay, but the atmosphere wasn’t nice, and the breakfast was rubbish. The younger owner was miserable and could be rude when talking to customers. I accidentally left my bag behind. I eventually got it back, but something had been taken from inside. I don’t think people should support someone so miserable and rude. It’s a shame, because the older man was very pleasant.

Shine Park was an amazing find for the price. My room was exceptionally spacious, immaculately clean, and had everything I needed, including powerful AC and reliable hot water. I’d give the room a perfect 10 out of 10. The value here is hard to believe, and it’s the best value accommodation I’ve found in the region. It’s a great base for Yala National Park or Tissamaharama, only a couple of hundred meters from the main Kataragama-Tissamaharama road. That makes it easy to find, while the setting stays peaceful and quiet, without the road noise or hassle. I highly recommend Shine Park if you want somewhere comfortable, convenient, and serene for a safari trip. I’ll definitely stay here again!

Our Yala Park tour with Shine Park was unforgettable. Janaka knows the park deeply and clearly has real respect for nature. He explained things with so much care and enthusiasm. We ended the day with the amazing sight of two leopards, something that will stay with us forever. Hospitality, passion, and love describe this family so well. The host family were generous, kind, and helpful, and we had a great stay at shine park. We joined a full-day safari with the husband, who has extensive knowledge of the national park and has led tours for 20+ years. It was an amazing day: we spotted 4 leopards, which is super lucky, along with a family of elephants and other animals. I’d recommend staying here and booking your safari directly with the family to support them and get the best experience.
