Yala Eagle Nest

Waruna was always suggesting things to do. We went out of town on his bike and saw rural places, temples, the beach and farms. He showed me how ordinary people live in Sri Lanka, and even lent me a bicycle for free. His wife cooked incredible meals. The place is brand new, with a very comfortable bed, spotless bathroom and a lovely big balcony to relax on. It’s surrounded by nature and so peaceful, but still in a good location. This is the best and calmest place I’ve stayed in Sri Lanka so far. I totally recommend it, and if you’re in Tissa, stay longer and explore beyond Yala.

The hosts were welcoming, friendly and always ready to help. Our stay was wonderful: the rooms were spotless, comfortable and had all the facilities we needed, and the peaceful surroundings were great for relaxing. The Yala safari was memorable and very well arranged. Everything was handled professionally, and it exceeded our expectations. One of the best places to stay near Yala. We’d love to come back!

The dinners here are incredible, and there’s so much food. We had lovely Sri Lankan dishes, with dessert and fruit included with each meal. Our room was spacious, the location was ideal, and the owners and staff were especially sweet and hospitable. They brought us lots of lovely tea and biscuits during our stay. It was peaceful and pretty, and the staff made an effort to show us nearby animals. We even saw deer right below our balcony. The price was great too. I’d happily stay at Eagle Nest again. Thank you!

The family made us feel so welcome, greeting us with fruit juice whenever we came back after being out. They suggested places to visit, pointed out the deer that comes by, helped us find the right bus, and offered to arrange a safari with a company that had really good online reviews. We’d already booked one, and that was no problem at all. They also told us about a nearby natural sight: hundreds of fruit bats taking off at dawn. Make sure you have dinner here. It was amazing and plentiful, and they made everything vegan when we asked. The included breakfast was great too. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was really nice. We had a wonderful time and would definitely recommend this place. A great vegan-friendly stay with a lovely family who clearly want guests to have a good visit.
