We were six people staying one night at Elephant Eye Hotel, mainly because of the pool and the easy safari jeep arrangements. The rooms were okay but could use better upkeep. Our toilet wouldn't flush and the shower drained slowly, though a staff member came quickly and fixed the toilet after we reported it. The younger staff were the best part of our stay. The young woman at reception and the young man serving dinner were both polite, attentive, and clearly tried to make things pleasant. Our safari driver, Theekshana, was wonderful too. The older woman who seemed to manage the property made us feel unwelcome from the start. She seemed annoyed and was rude when we asked for a couple of extra sugar packets, saying each guest gets only one. She also shouted at the younger staff, which made us uncomfortable. Later we discovered there was no kettle in our family room and not enough sugar. We were told the hotel had run out of sugar packets, which sounded ridiculous. We raised it with the older woman when we left, but she didn't seem to care. The younger staff were the saving grace.

We found the food good, and the place felt worth what we paid. The staff were especially helpful and did everything they could to make us feel welcome. Our room was spotless and very comfortable, a great place to wind down after a long day. The location also made it easy to get to the city's main attractions. We had an incredible stay and would highly recommend it.

The mountain views from our balcony were breathtaking, and the area was quiet even though the location worked well for exploring the city. We really enjoyed the breakfast buffet, with lots of choices, and the room was clean and comfortable. The receptionists were particularly friendly and always ready to help with a smile. We look forward to coming back!

We had a lovely stay at Elephant Eye Hotel and would recommend it to families. The rooms were clean, roomy, and suited us well, and the staff helped organize our Yala safari with breakfast packed for the early start. It's in a great spot in Tissa. We enjoyed our time there, though the dinner selection and pool cleaning could be better.

The host was so welcoming, and we really liked the place. We had a great conversation about geo politics, and the perfect home cooked food was a bonus.
