Villa Sunimal

The room was clean and roomy, with AC that worked well, and there’s a shared kitchenette with a fridge. Villa Sunimal is just off the main road, so everything is nearby without the road noise. The tourist shopping street in Unawatuna is only a few minutes on foot. The lovely family welcomed me with a cup of tea, and I felt at ease straight away. They all speak English quite well, and Dinu was friendly and ready to help with anything. I had a great stay and will definitely come back!

We came for three nights, then extended our stay to a month in November 2023. Dinu offered us a reasonable monthly rate and shared useful insights about Sri Lanka. He can also arrange TukTuk service or tours. The big room had its own kitchen with a fridge, gas stove, and cooking facilities, plus a bathroom and AC. The bed was comfortable and had a mosquito net. The location is peaceful, set back from the main street, and about a 15-minute walk from the beach. Grocery shops and the bus station are conveniently close. What we appreciated most was Dinu and his parents, Mr and Mrs Sunimal, who were always warm and helpful. Mrs Sunimal even invited us to have traditional Rice and Curry for her birthday. Highly recommend, and I hope we can return one day. Grateful to the Sunimal family ❤️

We only wish we could've stayed longer. Dino and his family were lovely hosts, and the homestay was clean and well located.

The owners were very friendly, and the location was convenient, near the main road but still quiet. Our upstairs room was clean and nicely decorated. The problem was that we'd paid for the whole stay in advance before finding out the split system, the floor air conditioner, was broken and couldn't be repaired. With only a fan, the room got quite hot.
