Pradeepa house

The low price is the one thing in its favor, and now I understand why it's cheap. The host was cold and unfriendly, never smiling, which made an already uncomfortable stay worse. The online photos are highly misleading; in person everything seemed old, neglected and poorly thought out. Our room was right beside a garden, but there was no mosquito net on the window, so sleeping comfortably was impossible. We were also not allowed to freely use water from the house, which felt completely unreasonable when paying to stay there and made the place unlivable. The whole experience was a mess.

I visited Pradeepa today and saw the new cabin she has in a separate private cottage. It's tidy and nice, and the price is fantastic.

The beach is beautiful and just a short walk down the hill, across the road and a few metres from the house. I spent two relaxing days here. Pradeepa was a wonderful host, and both the house and guestroom were very clean and neat. She can make dinner or breakfast if you ask, and even checked what she should charge. One day she took me to a small market outside town to buy vegetables, fruit and other things. I can really recommend this homestay, especially with such a reasonable price.

It was surprisingly quiet here, even with the beach parties and road traffic nearby. The room was nice, cosy and clean, and the guest house was one of the best we've stayed in in SL. It's about a minute from the beach, with five diving centers less than 500 meters away, and a minute from the main bus stop, so getting around is easy and very cheap. Breakfast and dinner were good and attractively priced, less than half what a normal restaurant costs, plus you get the peace and quiet. We recommend it, a very good surprise.
