Awesome Place Hotel

The food alone makes this place worth a visit. Raju cooked some of the best food I tried in Sri Lanka, especially the seafood Kottu, which was easily my favorite. The staff provided excellent service, and the mountain views around Ella are incredible. Awesome really does suit the name. Highly recommend staying or visiting.

We were seven travelers and felt at home right from the start, thanks to how warm and welcoming the whole team was. The rooms were clean and comfortable, surrounded by nature, and made for a peaceful place to rest after exploring Ella. The meals were some of the best we had in Sri Lanka. Everything tasted fresh and full of local flavor, and the chef even shared some authentic Sri Lankan recipes with us. Such a lovely personal touch. We couldn’t have asked for more, and the team made the stay unforgettable. We’d happily return to Awesome Place Ella someday.

The countryside setting was a real highlight for us, and the owner and staff were so welcoming. We ate very well too. The accommodation has a quirky feel. The rough track to Awesome Place was being surveyed during our visit, so maybe it’ll be sealed in the future.

Once there, you get a peaceful setting, lovely views, good food, and a warm, helpful team. The food costs a bit more than at local places, but it’s excellent. Staff offer free tuk tuk rides to and from the main road, about 15 minutes each way, which makes access easy. It’s outside Ella’s centre, as the map and other reviews show, and getting around is easier if you have your own transport or ask the team to help arrange it. If you’re fine with being away from the bustle, we can’t recommend it enough.
