The hotel itself didn't seem inviting. It looked like it needed renovation and better maintenance, and construction behind it took away any sense of peace. The beach was crowded with locals. I like local people, but there were simply too many for the area to feel relaxing. I went to look around before booking and sat on a sunbed beside the hotel to finish a cigarette. A rude woman came over and immediately told me it cost 5,000 LKR. I calmly explained I was just sitting for a moment while deciding whether to book, but she wouldn't discuss it or try to understand, only insisting I pay or leave. So I left. In Sri Lanka, it's rare for someone to be rude to me, and this was the first time anyone had been so unfriendly and unwilling to communicate. If this is how people are treated at the entrance, I don't want to imagine the stay. I definitely don't recommend this place.

I loved staying at Sayuri beach hotel. The owners are a lovely couple who made me feel at home, and they have delicious fresh food available. It's one of my favourite places to stay in Sri Lanka. The location is amazing, with one of the country's best beaches right at your doorstep. The calm water is great for swimming and snorkeling, and there's a chance to swim with big turtles. The sunrises and sunsets are beautiful too. Highly recommend :)

The owner was so friendly, and the rooms were nice, clean and simple. It's a great place right on the beach. We planned to stay one night, but ended up staying two. Wow.

The owner is very nice and the hotel is right on the beach. Rooms are simple and pleasant, with a medium-sized fan but no AC. It was very hot on the days we stayed, and with the metal roof, a bigger fan would've been nice. Plenty of restaurants nearby.

The owners are wonderful in every way, and the woman speaks English well. The rooms are simple and only have fans, but breakfast was always a lovely taste of Sri Lankan cuisine. There are just three rooms, all facing the sea. 😍👍🏼
