The drinks by the riverside fire each night were a nice way to meet other guests and hear about their adventures. The staff were a real highlight, so friendly and helpful. It was my mum’s birthday while we were there, and the team made her feel special. A particular shout out to Dimuthu Isuru & Chef Shalika! We had a fabulous 3 nights at Flameback Eco Lodge, a brilliant small boutique stay while visiting both Yala and Udawalawe.

The nature walk around the lake was really interesting. The tents were comfortable, there was a nice choice of food at the restaurant, and the staff were attentive. A beautiful place to stay.

Breakfast was a treat, especially the pineapple/cocos juice, and we also enjoyed the included welcome drinks and foot massage. Our Safari tour was great, with a leopard, elephants, and lots of birds. The rooms were cozy, clean, and very nice, and the service was great. We really enjoyed our stay.

The lodges sit right by the water, looking out over the lake, with breathtaking views and a real back-to-nature feel. We arrived in the early afternoon, drove slowly past the Hilton hotel, and were glad we turned left onto the long, concealed drive to Flameback Eco Lodge. We got a lovely welcome and great service.

There’s plenty of birdlife and other wildlife around this lovely lakeside property. The restaurant was good, and Usuru & Dimuthu were especially helpful with our kids. It’s also close to Yala/Udawalawe.
