Phomolo Guest House

The staff were friendly, breakfast was nice, and we didn’t run out of hot water. The bath water was especially lovely and hot, and I’d recommend the place to my South African buddies. But there were quite a few things that need attention. In luxury room no 5, the mattress needs replacing, and the window mechanism didn’t work, so I didn’t sleep well the first night. We only got bath towels on the first day. The kettle wouldn’t switch off after boiling, so you had to stay close or wipe up the water it spilled on the floor. There were cockroaches too, so regular fumigation would be welcome. Room 6’s basin only had cold water. The cleaning product used in the dining hall was sticky, and should be replaced with something more user friendly. Compliments to the chef for breakfast, and thanks for the friendly welcome.

After a couple of days driving around Lesotho, this was a great spot to rest. The rooms were super clean, and the staff made sure we were comfortable. It’s outside the city, so leave plenty of time if you’re heading into town. Construction made traffic a headache.

We booked a stay at Phomolo earlier this year and had a nasty experience. During the day, while we were out, things were stolen from our rooms. We got them back from the reception office when we went there to complain. The rooms also weren’t clean enough. Then people from outside held a party in the yard without consulting us. We suddenly saw them arriving with a music system, and cars blocking the entrance. People were all over the yard with loud music playing. I’ll never book there again. We were so disappointed.

Free Wi-Fi, and it’s easy to get onto the main road. The beds were questionable, the oven in my room wasn’t clean, and the shower head was at eye level. You’re not allowed to take your room keys with you when you go out to enjoy the country, no matter how long you’re staying.
