Tribute Guest House Matala

For my first trip to Lesotho, the hospitality and service were top tier. They really pay attention to the details.

They charge 690 for one person with breakfast, yet don't even provide a bottle of water. There was no soap in the toilet, and the kitchen had no utensils, pans, or anything like that. The shower is beside the bed rather than in the toilet, so the room gets humid all over after you shower. My room was quite dark without any direct daylight, so sleeping until noon would be easy. There's no restaurant where you can order food. Dinner is only available if you order it in the morning. Breakfast tasted nice, but the portion was small.

The rooms were very clean and well looked after, with all the essentials: a stove, kettle, microwave, fridge, and cutlery. Depending on the room, there's a balcony or outdoor area. The staff were lovely, safety protocols were in place, and breakfast was great. There weren't many movie channels, but there's plenty to do around there besides watch TV. Awesome place, and I'd definitely stay again.

We booked for a group of 13. The day before, they said they were having problems and had to move us to a guest house across the road. I asked whether it was comparable, and they said it was. When we arrived, there was no booking for us there. We had to depend on the night guard's ability to improvise. It wasn't comparable either: the rooms were cold, and there was no breakfast. We couldn't reach anyone to sort it out at the time.
