The room looked drab and the bedding wasn't comfortable, but the bigger problem was the noise. We were right over the restaurant, so there was clattering and muffled conversation late at night and again early in the morning. We stayed one night with friends and that was quite enough. The receptionist, who seemed to be the owner too, shouted at us about the dog supplement fee. We were fine with paying it, but the amount seemed to change depending on whether we spoke English or Lithuanian. It was cash only, too. The staff came across as hostile throughout. With the Curonian Spit’s natural beauty all around, I expected the hotel to make some effort to fit its setting. Instead, the room felt like a dreary roadside motel, with little comfort and an unwelcoming atmosphere. The main thing worth doing here is walking on by.
