Hotel Šiauliai

I asked the receptionist politely if I could use the Wi-Fi while waiting for a hair appointment. She stared at me in uncomfortable silence for a long time, asked “Why?”, then told me they don't share Wi-Fi with people who aren't guests. I accepted that and started toward the hairdresser, but she added, “We also don’t have a toilet.” Very rude and unwelcoming, and completely unprofessional.

I only stayed one night. The room was spacious, but the bathroom and toilet were terrible. I paid 10 euros for breakfast and put an egg, a banana and a cake on my plate, then they took it away from me. That was incredibly disrespectful.

The view of the city from my 14th-floor room was nice. I checked out as soon as I found another hotel, so I can't comment on breakfast. The place was filthy, and every piece of furniture was broken in some way. There wasn't even a shower curtain or cabin, and the elevator had dog urine in it. I've stayed in hostels that cost less and were much better, even in cities pricier than Šiauliai.

The upper floors have amazing views, and the room was clean and warm, which suited me as a business traveler who only needed a few hours to sleep. It's a renovated Soviet hotel, so don't expect too much for 25-35€ for a single room. Hotels in Schaulen all seem to be at about the same standard. I'd definitely recommend it for a short business stay.
