I found the place quiet and fairly central, with the basics covered. My twin room was clean and tidy, and sharing the bathroom with the neighbor was no trouble since the tiled bathroom is right outside the door. The building gives almost no clue that a hotel is inside: it’s the only nine-story building, and reception is just inside the entrance. There’s nothing suspicious about it, the outside signs are simply missing. Bring cash, because they don’t take cards. That seemed true of Utena in general too, apart from supermarkets. There’s no food service, and although the room has a kettle, you’ll need your own tea bags. Russian is pretty much the only language people speak; English is hard to find. If you speak Russian, though, people will do a lot for you. It’s an average, well-kept place for a basic night’s sleep. I’d recommend it if you don’t need extras.
