Hotel International

It’s my second time visiting, and I’ll definitely come back. The hotel isn’t brand new, but it’s very clean, including the spa. Breakfast was perfect, with lots of choices.

The staff were excellent on both visits, always friendly, helpful, and welcoming. That stood out and gets five stars from me. The room made a big difference to the rest of the experience, though. My first stay was in a suite and was relaxing and lovely. The room was beautiful, the bed comfortable, and in summer I was glad to have both air conditioning and a fan. The bathroom was spacious, with a shower and clawfoot tub. That visit was easily five stars. On my second visit I booked a regular room with a queen bed, but it was actually two twin beds pushed together. They separated overnight, and the bed wasn’t comfortable to sleep in. The motion-activated bathroom light was frustrating: after about two minutes in the shower it switched off, so I had to step out to turn it back on. There was also no way to keep the lights off at night, so using the bathroom turned them all on and disrupted sleep. That stay didn’t feel restful and was two stars. The suite was outstanding, while the standard room had real comfort problems. The great service helps, but the hotel would benefit from more consistency between room types.

The hotel has a lovely atmosphere, and the staff are kind, friendly, and very competent. Thank you. Breakfast was tasty, with plenty of options, and the restaurant is a good place to eat, with some nice vegetarian choices. Children and dogs are very welcome.

It’s in a good central location, and the price was good for the area and time of year. There’s paid secure parking beneath the hotel, and dogs are allowed, though not in the breakfast room. Front-facing rooms can be noisy. Our bathroom had mould in the shower, and the radiator needed work. If there was a fan, it wasn’t working. The bar had a good selection of drinks, including Luxembourg and Belgium beers and wine, but the service was hit and miss. We didn’t eat at the restaurants because there were better local options, though they looked fairly busy.
