The Seven Hotel

The service was excellent, and the hotel felt very clean and comfortable. But the price was shockingly high, far above what I’d expect even at upscale hotels nearby. Breakfast alone was €80 per person, which felt outrageous. There was no air conditioning in the room either, so sleeping in the summer heat was difficult.

The staff were amazingly kind and helpful, and the location was quiet and pleasant. We even saw a deer outside the hotel one evening. The rest of the place felt dated, like it might have been a four-star hotel in the 90s. The furniture was old, the bathroom ceiling showed water damage, and there was no ventilation in the toilet area. The mini-fridge looked worn, the desk was badly scratched, and there was no AC, just some sort of fan. On days when the restaurant was closed, breakfast was ridiculous, with the meat and cheese looking as if they’d been left out for quite a while. The terrace could use a fresh coat of paint too. Water dripped from some windows, and they’d added padding to stop it splashing instead of fixing the problem.

The rooms are great, with a comfy bed and walk-in shower. The restaurant felt pretentious without delivering. I ordered a 400g veal steak medium rare, but it came well done. The chef apparently got pissed off when I sent it back. The replacement was cooked properly, but had at least 100g of fat. Better to eat somewhere outside.

The setting is mesmerizing and makes this a perfect spot for a romantic night out. The seafood was amazing, and the wine selection was great too. I’m not especially into the cuisine, particularly the entrees, and the waitresses could perhaps have been a bit more attentive. Still, I had a great experience.
