Graace Hotel

The hotel staff were so friendly and helpful, and communication was easy. Prices also felt reasonable for Luxembourg, which can be very expensive. On my second visit, I found breakfast had improved a lot since the first time: it's now a continental buffet in a cosy, home-like kitchen, with really fresh, tasty ingredients. The industrial building has been converted beautifully. The stone and overall look made me think of the Levant, like Lebanon or Israel, rather than Luxembourg. I liked the industrial style in the room, softened by the wood floors and panels. Every room has either a balcony or a terrace, and the layout separates the sitting and sleeping areas with the bathroom between them. The bed and linen were comfortable, and the in-room iPad had useful local tips, including places to eat. The roof terraces must be great in summer. This setup works best for a short stay. There’s only one room type, with a balcony upstairs or a terrace on the ground floor, and I wish there were larger options. The rooms are very small, with no cupboard and little storage, so a longer stay would be difficult. The bed is narrow for two, and the room feels snug for a couple as well. The bathroom design makes clever use of the limited space, but it’s awkward in practice. Its double closet-style doors swing 90 degrees into the narrow corridor to make room for the shower, whose drain is in the corridor between the sitting area and bathroom. If two people are sharing, one gets stuck in either the bedroom or sitting area while the other showers. And once the doors are shut again, the corridor is wet, so you need shoes to move around. A church bell rings every 15 minutes from 7am to 10pm, so sleeping in isn’t really possible. I also heard a few planes taking off or landing at the “nearby” airport at odd hours.
