Hôtel Le Châtelet

We only stayed briefly after a workday to enjoy the city, and the price felt good for what we got. The location is amazing, the staff are superb, and breakfast was good. Parking at €15 per night was good too. My girlfriend and I had a quick but lovely stay.

We only stayed one night, but the room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. The quiet neighborhood is close to the city centre, and on-site parking was a big help. We felt safe, and everything was exceptionally clean. The hotel has lots of charm. The staff were welcoming and gave us helpful, informative answers, and they were lovely with our little dog. We didn’t use the bar or breakfast area, though the lounge beside the bar looked very cosy. They spoke English with us easily, even with my Scottish accent. The room, parking, and pet supplement all seemed very reasonably priced for the location. I emailed first to check that pets were allowed and got a reply very quickly.

Far too expensive for what they offer. The rooms are tiny, worn, and in disrepair, with hardly anything provided, not even a kettle. The mattresses and pillows were very uncomfortable. I was promised a double bed, but it was two beds with an insert between them, which was uncomfortable too. The staff seemed indifferent. At checkout they didn’t ask how my stay had been or whether everything was okay, and they lied about room availability when they put me in the worst room in the hotel.

The room was spacious and had a great view, and the bar downstairs had a lovely atmosphere. The location was fantastic, within walking distance of the centre. The gentleman who checked us in was superb. While we unloaded our luggage, he thoughtfully prepared ice water for us and gave excellent suggestions for places to eat and drink. Thoroughly recommend!
