LEGERE HOTEL Luxembourg

On my second visit, I was still impressed with the food and the general atmosphere. But part of my electric toothbrush was mistakenly thrown away by the cleaning staff. The team quickly gave me a manual alternative, which I appreciated, though this kind of mix-up shouldn't happen at a hotel of this caliber. Guests might want to keep their valuables somewhere secure to avoid the same inconvenience.

The room was lovely, very clean, and the large bed was extremely comfortable. We chose the hotel for its quiet setting near the motorway. It's on a trading estate, across the road from a nature reserve, and close to the airport, but we didn't notice excessive airport noise. Our suite was at the back, though, and the double glazing seal wasn't working. Some insulation had been put in place, but it didn't help much with the soundproofing. Delivery lorries started coming in early, and their engines were loud enough to wake us. It was annoying and a little inconvenient. I forgot to report it since we stayed just one night and it wouldn't be a persistent problem for us, though I'm sure it would have been sorted if I'd mentioned it.

The front desk staff were nice, which was about the only good thing I took away from the stay. The hotel was hard to reach without a car. There were only around 8 free spaces by the entrance, and they were usually full. Underground parking cost an extra 20€ per night. When there was no free space, we parked on the street for at most 2€, with a 10-hour limit, and it was free from around 8pm to 8am. Construction at the hotel was loud, starting early in the morning and going until around 9pm. The restaurant prices were pretty high, and the paintings felt kind of creepy, like they were staring at you in your sleep. They might scare small children. The fuse blew while I was in the bathroom, and all the lights in our room went out. We hadn't plugged anything in or turned anything on, so it was very unusual. There was a strong burning smell. We got a staff member to check, and he showed us the fuse box and said to flick the switch back. We were mainly worried about the smell, and he then offered us another room. The AC in that room wasn't working, though, so it was very cold. We were there in January in about -4 weather, which wasn't fun. There was no kettle, and the free Wi-Fi was public with no password. The cleaning staff would just use their keys to walk in without knocking, which was quite unpleasant. The toilet was in a strange closet, and the mini fridge was under the counter next to the sink.

The room was spacious, but several useful amenities were missing. Getting into the city center took more than two buses, which got tiring. Without your own car, I wouldn't recommend booking here. It's a very long way from the city center, and the area feels a bit isolated despite being close to the airport.
