Motel Brencis

We stopped here for one night on our way back to Czechia from Estonia, mainly to rest and eat. The location works well for a break during a road trip, and the rooms were clean and convenient. It’s a motel, so we weren’t expecting modern furniture or especially spacious rooms. The receptionist was very kind and attentive. We didn’t catch her name, but she’s the young woman with long brown hair who knows about video games. She checked us in during the afternoon and made sure breakfast was ready for us in time the next morning. Breakfast was served on a plate with cheese, ham, butter, and marmalade. The bakery items were fresh and soft, and we could choose American coffee or black tea, with a glass of juice. There’s a lounge used for breakfast, but you can also sit there to gather with friends, play cards or board games if you brought them, or work on a laptop. The WiFi worked well, and we could order coffee from the bar. It was a pleasant, restful stop in a safe, fairly quiet area.

The grounds outside were lovely, and the surrounding area is beautiful. There’s also a bar inside, and the woman who served us was friendly, though her English was broken. The included breakfast was good. But the rooms were old, worn, and outdated, and I don’t think that standard is acceptable. The photos speak for themselves. I don’t like being too hard on small businesses, since it can hurt their reputation, but they need to address the rooms.

The breakfast was okay, but I checked out as quickly as I could because I didn’t want any more bites. Maybe I was unlucky, but room number 1 had lots of fleas, and the bedding looked a bit dirty, certainly as if it hadn’t been washed since the last guest. I’d seen good reviews, but it seems like standards are slipping.

The rooms are spacious and clean, and there’s a bar downstairs. The decor feels several decades old, but all in all I had a great stay and thought it was good value for the price.
