Hotel Elīna

The garden was beautiful and always had enough places to sit, though I would have liked a balcony. We stayed for two weeks, and this is one of the best hotels I’ve stayed in. The rooms and staff were amazing. One Latvian staff member was especially welcoming, and when I became unwell during the holiday, she gave us directions to the nearest hospital. I can’t remember her name, but she was lovely. We’ll be back 🫶🏻😊

The owner was extremely rude and selfish. There’s an apple tree in the garden, but they wouldn’t let my 3 year old daughter take any apples, even though they were all rotten. The café staff and cleaners, on the other hand, were very friendly and polite. The hotel is much like most 3 star places, and I’d recommend it only because of the staff. Our room was lovely and cozy, with nice, comfortable furniture that seemed freshly painted and furnished. It had a fridge and kettle. Outside, there’s a large, nice garden with a swing and tables for coffee or a picnic. (cafe & shop open from 8-10)

We paid €160 for one night. You’d be better off with a tent somewhere. From reception to management, the organization and behavior were disgraceful, and the place fell short on cleanliness and basic standards. There was no parking when we arrived. Reception told us to park by the gate in front of other cars, and we left a gap so cars could still get in and out. Later, while we were in town, reception called and asked us to move the car because it was blocking the entrance, even though they had told us to park there. We returned to find a man arguing with us about blocking his way. I don’t think he was a guest, just someone who had parked there. Two cars had managed to enter the car park after we parked. The room looked like something from the 1940s, with outdated furniture and gaps between the doors. There were no separate beds, no cutlery despite it being self-catering, no shower, and the sheets were dirty. They also told us people were allowed to park on the property to go to the beach, so who knows whether the man was a guest or not.

It’s a good price and handy for a few nights, very close to Jomas Street. The rooms are old and weren’t very clean, but the WC and washroom are private. A TV and fridge are provided, and washed towels, soap, and shower gel are included in the price. It’s not suitable for families with children. The rooms are on the second floor, reached by a steep staircase, and we heard someone fall on it early in the morning. Probably not a good choice for people who drink either.
