Rixwell Collection Seaside Hotel Jurmala

Paying for a bottle of mineral water from the minibar turned into the biggest disappointment. I left the exact cash amount beside the bottle, but the charge still appeared on our final bill. It felt unfair, and I expected the billing to be clearer, even for something so small. The stay was pleasant overall, but a couple of things we’d heard from other guests didn’t match our experience: there was no Prosecco at breakfast, and breakfast didn’t start at 8:00 AM as we expected.

Breakfast had a good variety, including Prosecco, and the receptionist was friendly, helpful, and spoke good English. But the kitchen manager’s manner left a bad impression. We arrived at 7:50, and although breakfast was due to start at 8, he all but chased us out of the dining area. Later, when I went for a latte, he curtly asked whether I’d paid, even though reception had said coffee and tea were complimentary for guests at any time. He asked for my room number. There were only four people at breakfast, so I find it hard to believe he didn’t remember me. He could use some hospitality training. Our twin room was clean and spacious, with a large bathtub. The bed was too close to the wardrobe, though the pull-out drawers under it were useful, and the power socket could be better placed. There’s an elevator to the rooms despite the hotel having only three floors. We stayed one night in late September, and there was just one other couple at breakfast, which made me wonder if it was the low season. Parking still cost €8.

The staff were friendly, and the service was very good. It’s a modern, nice hotel, and I’d recommend the location.

The rooms were spacious and very clean, and breakfast had lots of choice. My husband and I chose this hotel for our stay in Jurmala; it’s close to both the beach and the Main Street. Free parking is about a two-minute walk away.
