The owner asked for a €50 deposit even though the room had already been paid for in advance. The room itself is worth €20 at most, and I've never been asked for a deposit like that before. Cleanliness was very questionable. The room looked like it belonged in the 17th century, and somehow the bed felt older still. The covers were smaller than the bed and couldn't properly cover two adults. One of my worst booking experiences.

Our apartment was neat and clean, with a terrace, kitchen, shower, and two bedrooms. Some of the furniture is a bit old, but the place isn't too expensive. Taking everything into account, it works well for a holiday.

We'd booked two months ahead and paid through Booking.com, but just two nights before our stay the owner messaged us saying there was an “error” and we'd have to pay extra to stay. We chose not to go after that. Check the other reviews first, as we apparently didn't, and be aware the owner might scam you too. I'd avoid this place.

It was peaceful, with lovely sunsets near the Kanieru lake, and Milzkalns wasn't far away. The sauna was cozy, breakfast really tasty, and the owner even brought us hot herbal tea. Thanks!
