Hotel Kolumbs

A little after 6 a.m., while our room door was locked from the inside, two intoxicated hotel visitors used their entry card to unlock it and walked in by mistake. They wanted to lie down in the bed and loudly argued about why someone was sleeping in their room. Waking up to two drunk strangers in our room was horrible, and it was alarming that an access card could open a room that was already checked in. I can't help wondering what might happen if this kind of system fault happens regularly and someone uses it with bad intentions. In the morning, I went to reception for a new card because our original one had been declined after we left the room, while our belongings were still inside before checkout. When I explained what had happened, the response felt unpleasant, as if I was being accused of making it up, and I was asked how it could have happened. After apparently checking the video surveillance, the receptionist dismissed it as a system fault. There was no apology, explanation, or attempt to make amends or compensate us. My partner and I left very dissatisfied and disappointed. This was an unfortunate customer experience, and I wouldn't recommend the place.

The rooms are cleaned daily and towels are changed, so an economy-class room may suit you. Breakfast was very poor: the same food every morning, no choice, and nothing suitable for children. There was mayonnaise, herring, low-quality mayonnaise and sour cream mixtures, plus sausages and a fried egg. The food in the pots had gone cold. I don't recommend having breakfast.

I slept badly because the sound carried so much. I could hear people walking and other odd noises, and the acoustics were among the worst I’ve come across in a four-star hotel. The private parking was handy and the staff were polite, though the bathroom could have been cleaner.

The receptionist was really nice and polite, and when we realized we’d left our earrings in the room, we were able to return and get them. We only stayed one night, but the room was clean and spacious. There’s parking in the backyard. The rooms are non-smoking, though there’s a balcony in the corridor, so I assume that’s where you can smoke. I’d recommend it!
