Roze Boutique Hotel

We got good value for our three-night stay, and the staff were friendly. Breakfast was good too. The building has been restored nicely while keeping its old character, including quality original paintings of cows and still lifes. It’s a quiet place away from the tramway. Richard and Irina visited mum at Aizpute.

We chose this place for its location, but despite having a confirmed one-night booking through Booking, we arrived to be told they were overbooked. The front desk person was very rude and said we could only stay at another property far across town. It was a big holiday and nearly everything nearby was already booked. We managed to find the last room at a different hotel closer by. I wouldn’t recommend booking here, especially through a third party.

Reception staff were consistently lovely and helpful, and the location is great, right in the town centre and a five-minute walk from the beach. When I arrived, the room was spotless and had everything; the included buffet breakfast was alright. But I won’t return. I stayed six nights, and housekeeping seemed to forget the room unless I asked. After I raised it on day 3, it was made perfect the next day, then missed again until I asked once more. In all, they attended the room just twice during my five full days there. I’m usually not fussy about this, but having to ask reception for clean cups so I could make tea felt awkward. I was out most of each day, so they had plenty of time.

The rooms and whole place look great, with nice furnishings, decor and cleanliness, and the restaurant is high quality. The serious downside is how easily sound passes through the wooden construction. In bedroom no18, we could hear people talking in the neighboring apartment. I wonder if the ventilation is shared between the two apartments.
