The beach was really close, and restaurants and bars were nearby too, though the tourist attractions weren’t. We spent one night in Liepaja on the day before Easter and booked a room in Roze apartments through booking.com. Check-in was easy, just remember the reception is at Roze villa, where you pick up the keys before going to your building. We drove and found good free parking. The room was clean, comfortable, and came with free amenities. The price felt fair for what they provided, and the receptionist spoke English and Russian.

We’ve stayed here for summer holidays at least five years running. Usually it’s a really nice hotel, with a good breakfast and a great location, and the rooms are recently refurbished and clean, all for a very reasonable price. This year, though, there’s major street reconstruction nearby. The workers start at 7 AM sharp and make so much noise that sleeping longer is impossible. The hotel didn’t warn us about it before we arrived.

A very nice place if you like wine.

They have a good Georgian and international wine selection, and breakfast is hearty, with the full Monty as well as herring and pancakes. There’s a fine Georgian restaurant next door and parking available. The hotel is cosy, close to the beach and city centre, and the staff are friendly.

The staff were unhelpful and unprofessional when we tried to sort things out. They got our reservation dates completely wrong, which caused a lot of stress and inconvenience, and then tried to charge us more than the rate we’d agreed in writing before the stay. A deeply disappointing experience. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.
