Vilmaja Hotel

Breakfast was pretty good and worth the price. The rooms and reception service were just so-so: some staff were good and some really bad. At check-in they seemed lost, and the extra bed had been forgotten. The area also seems a bit dodgy at night. For a budget stay, you get what you pay for. I’d recommend it to people who don’t want to spend much and can manage average or below-average service and cleanliness.

The hotel was quiet, the staff were very kind, and the service was excellent. It’s especially good value if you’re driving, since parking is included and parking in Riga is very expensive. Much better than some pricier four- or five-star hotels in central Riga, where I’ve found the staff arrogant and useless.

The breakfast was very good and the room was clean. There’s no air conditioning in the rooms, though, and often nobody was at reception, so we’d wait 10-15 minutes for someone to show up.

This was the worst place I’ve stayed, and I’ve been to a lot of hotels. The bed for my children had blood inside it, and the pillow smelled like 20 people had slept on it before. Breakfast was very bad, with only old things, and the man at reception was very drunk. If you’re thinking of going there, please don’t.
