Sofitel Agadir Thalassa Sea & Spa

The location is lovely, near the far end of Agadir beach, and the hotel grounds are beautiful. The promenade is long and wide, great for jogging, and the gym is excellent. The rooms are modern and in good shape, with comfortable beds, though the water pressure varies and hot water may run out if you fill the bath. Only the children's pool is heated, and in the morning people are hunting around for towels. Breakfast was excellent. For a sport massage, I highly recommend Rokaja at Thalassa Spa, she's a world-class master. Lunch at La Plage is romantic and beautiful, but I'd avoid ordering the meat: both the veal and lamb were too tough to chew. I liked the grilled fish, chicken, salads, and tasty local vine. For a sunny room, choose Prestige Room, Partial Sea View. If you'd rather have shade, choose Prestige Room, Panoramic Sea View or Prestige Suite, Pool and Sea View.

The staff were very friendly, and as I walked around Agadir, this was probably the hotel I found most appealing. The rooms were on the small side for the price, but comfortable. Food and drinks were my main issue, basically twice the price or more than elsewhere. The singing at night was a nice touch, though across seven nights there were two different singers performing the same songs.

We had an amazing five-day break and will be back. The pools are fantastic, and it's the only hotel with immediate beach access. The food at the beach bar and restaurants was so good, and Abdul at the pool bar was great. The staff were lovely and helpful, greeting us around every corner and making us feel like nothing was too much trouble. Some reviews call the service slow, but to me that's just the relaxed pace and atmosphere they've created. Sit back and relax. It was a great time of year to escape the winter blues.

We loved our stay. It was a good place to disconnect and recharge, and staff across departments were welcoming and courteous. The buffet breakfast had a decent selection and good service. Do try the Tagine (Moroccan dish) while you're here. There are a couple of things to improve: housekeeping entered our room twice without waiting for us, which felt unprofessional, and the washrooms weren't clean. Some of the cutlery and crockery also hadn't been cleaned well. Our stay was affected by luggage misplaced by Royal Morocco, and Yassine at Front office and Abdel at the Concierge went above and beyond to help us.
