Dar Biona

What a glorious venue. The staff were patient, friendly, and attentive, and the food was so good I’m already dreading having to cook for myself again.

The rooms were comfortable and clean, and the food was amazing. Alex and Stephane do a great job looking after this wonderful guest house, and you can tell.

Please read this carefully. The place looks good, and the owner and host seem welcoming and make a convincing sales pitch, but our stay was ruined and felt so unsafe that our group had to leave and find another place. The host Zac intimidated and bullied guests, and wandered around the property without giving us privacy. He came in while we were cooking, sleeping, and using the pool. The women in our group found both Zac and the owner aggressive, with odd behavior like watching us. We had to involve the police and Airbnb to find a safe alternative. I would not recommend this place, especially for women or girls, or anyone wanting a good experience. The food was out of date, and many guests got gastroenteritis. The pool was dirty, the promised jacuzzi was broken, some showers didn’t work, and the Wi-Fi was intermittent and poor. There was no gas for the kitchen cooker. When we raised these problems, we got no help. The property is in the middle of an undeveloped field, with poor roads and no shops or services nearby. It’s a good 10 minutes to get to anything, so if something happened, you’d be at the mercy of the host. I strongly advise finding somewhere safer than this place or anywhere hosted by these people.

Zakaria and the staff made us feel at home at Dar Biona from the moment we checked in until we left. He went out of his way each day, helping with transport and excursion suggestions, and was always available. At the same time, he and the staff were discreet and respected our privacy. Dar Biona is a gem, a peaceful spot close to Marrakech for a holiday. We’ll definitely return.
