Hotel La Kasbah

The location is great, within walking distance of the Ait Ben Haddou, but we asked our tour agency to move us as soon as we saw the rooms. The bedsheets and towels were yellow and disgusting, and the hand towel looked dirtier than the floor towel. The balcony was dirty too. The room was dark, lit by just two small, pathetic bulbs. This may have been the place to stay years ago, but it certainly isn’t now. We saw two other guests leave after viewing their rooms and say, “definitely no.” There have been several recent bad reviews with detailed complaints, and the problems seem unchanged. I’d advise guests to avoid it. Our tour agency has also removed all future bookings here.

We changed hotels as soon as we saw the rooms. The floors were incredibly dirty, with dried mud left by previous guests, and the place felt only half-cleaned. Towels and bedding were yellowed, the soap smelled strange and stale despite being labelled lavender, one bathroom hadn’t been cleaned, and another room had rubbish piled on its balcony. I wondered if they were short-staffed, since I only saw two cleaning ladies. From its size and decor, I can imagine this might once have been a grand hotel, but it felt old and dusty when we arrived. The manager or receptionist, whose name I didn’t get, was kind and apologetic and really tried to make things right.

This was a terribly bad hotel. There was a drain smell in the room, no hot water, dirt, and a long distance to walk. The staff were unfriendly. The toilet was broken and wouldn’t flush, while the water kept running all night. A broken terrace window let in wind that made a lot of noise, and the towels were yellow and dirty. I’ve never had this kind of stay anywhere else in Morocco. This hotel doesn’t deserve a star.

Stay somewhere else. The rooms are dark and dirty, and dogs bark from the parking lot all night, so you won’t sleep. The location is good, but there are other hotels nearby and you can definitely do better.
