Auberge Ayouze

We could easily have spent longer here just relaxing on the terrace and taking in the views. The free parking was useful, though the steep steps could be difficult for anyone with mobility issues. Our one-night stop at Auberge Ayouze was on the way to Dades Gorge, and the hospitality made us feel at home. We went to Ait Benhaddou for sunrise, only a three-minute drive away, and got back after 11:30. Even though breakfast hours had passed, the hosts served a generous meal with warm bread filled with fresh honey. Nothing seemed like too much trouble. The three-course dinner by the fireplace was delicious and carefully prepared. They made me a lovely vegetable tagine, while my husband and daughter had grilled chicken with vegetables. Simple home cooking that we all enjoyed. Our room was small but comfortable. It was a little cold, so the hosts brought an extra heater. The en suite bathroom had warm running water and toiletries. We were welcomed with mint tea and peanuts on the terrace, which looks out over beautiful scenery. The peaceful setting is charming and tastefully decorated. I’d give it five stars for the service, decor, food, atmosphere, cleanliness, and location.

That balcony is calling me back already. I’d love to sit there with tea and unwind again someday. The views are breathtaking, and the little restaurant serves hearty portions cooked to a high standard. Ghayat was such a ray of sunshine. This place beats any five-star hotel in Morocco for me.

We really enjoyed our stay, especially the breakfast with Moroccan Barley Soup. The terrace and balcony both have lovely views over the landscape. Ghayat took great care of us, and the auberge has a lot of charm. It’s close to Ait Ben Haddou if you have a car. There was no A/C in our room, but they offered us a ventilator, which we didn’t end up needing.

There was plenty of room to sit and relax, both inside and out on the terrace. Our room was on the compact side, but had a lovely patio looking out over the countryside. The auberge is nicely furnished and decorated, and set well away from the busier part of Ait Ben Haddou. The staff took care of what we needed, including parking our motos, and served a very good supper and breakfast.
