Ksar Ighnda

The area has a great vista, and the town, with shopping and essentials, is a five-minute drive away. Staff were polite and very professional during our short one-night stay. The photos make the rooms look a bit misleading. They’re quite small for two people, with no room to open travel bags, and the bathroom is tiny too. They’d be okay for one person. I recommend the place if you understand the rooms aren’t spacious.

The standard rooms at the Ksar are 15-20 m² and accommodate two people, with a television and air conditioning. The bathroom, though, is far from modern and needs a major renovation. The shower was inadequate. This is common with a lot of hotels in Morocco. The hotel itself is beautiful, with excellent grounds, superior service, and a fantastic buffet. I was there as part of a Gate 1 tour.

The group of 12 I was with was well received, and the service from every staff member we interacted with was wonderful. The buildings make good use of the space. Rooms were comfortable, though it was a bit hot last night and the air-conditioning was working hard, which was to be expected. After a hot day, the saltwater pool was amazing.

The hotel looked beautiful when we arrived, and they’d done a really good job with the decor. Unfortunately, the looks were the only pleasing part of our stay. Dinner was a crowded buffet full of tour groups. The food tasted very average and wasn’t traditional Moroccan food, and the dining room was freezing. The staff were incredibly rude, and we never had hot water in our room. We called several times. They said they’d fixed it the first night, but the water was cold again the next morning. A technician came and allegedly fixed it, but we were already late for our journey and couldn’t take a hot shower. The room never really warmed up and felt damp, which was strange. At checkout, the front desk girl accused me of taking their body wash. I told her I hadn’t even showered and hadn’t taken it, and offered to go up with her to show it was still there. She refused, and they disputed it with our travel company. They wouldn’t refund part of our stay for the lack of hot water, which was unbelievable. Thankfully, this was the only unpleasant part of our trip. The rest of the people in Morocco were kind and helpful.
