Hotel Imperial Casablanca

I don't usually leave negative reviews, but after staying in around 200 hotels across three continents over the past 24 months, I can say this place is lacking. The room's electricity kept cutting out because of the breaker in the circuit box. Only one light worked, there was just one towel, and the sheets were too small for the bed, exposing a dirty liner underneath. The heater and AC didn't work, and the shower kept shifting between hot and cold. Breakfast was cold and stale. I'd spent the previous three nights at another hotel with the same rating and a slightly higher price, and that stay was great. This one doesn't meet local standards.

The staff were incredibly kind, friendly, and helpful, and clearly trying their best despite the property's mismanagement. They were the one bright spot. But over our two days there, we were moved three times: the first room hadn't been cleaned after the previous guests, the second had a broken air conditioner, and the third had no towels. After asking, we waited six hours for towels, and there still weren't any in the new room we were moved to today. There seem to be serious management and maintenance problems. I hope the property gets the basics right, including cleaning, working amenities, and attending to guest needs. It could be a great stay if those things were better managed.

The spa visit was frustrating too. The woman there said they had no towels and sent me to reception, where we'd already been told there were none. We ended up taking towels from our room and only using the pool. The spa worker wasn't friendly, didn't understand any English, and acted as though we were bothering her. My cousin and I booked seven nights, and the trouble started on day one when our room wasn't ready. We were put in a temporary dark room with a broken bathroom lock and no towels, and told our actual room would be ready the next day. We had no choice but to spend that night there. At 2 a.m., I woke to find someone standing at our door. Someone had entered our room while my cousin slept. I turned on my phone flashlight, walked to the door saying “hello,” and the man who'd come in only said “Housekeeping??” He didn't apologize or say anything else. When we complained the next day, the woman at reception said, “That’s NORMAL!!” We told her it wasn't normal for someone to enter while we were sleeping. I was frightened to sleep for two nights, worried someone would come in again. The room was dirty. The two of us got only two towels, with no hand towels or bath mats. We had to ask for towels ourselves, and were repeatedly told there weren't any. Once, an older man at reception said I had to ask housekeeping directly. After we went to Marrakech Wednesday morning and returned Thursday evening, the used towels had been taken away and no clean ones left. Desperate for a shower, we complained at reception. My cousin was told towels would arrive in a few minutes, but we waited and nobody came, so we dried ourselves with our own T-shirts. The next day we complained again about the towels that never arrived as promised. A woman at the desk said she'd send someone right away. I said I'd wait at reception, but she said they'd bring them to our room. Breakfast was very poor, and there was an awful smell from the kitchen. Even one star feels like too much. Friendliness: zero. Cleanliness: zero. I don't recommend this hotel to anyone. Avoid it at all costs!

The room was old, dirty, and smelled bad, and there were no towels. When I asked at reception, they promised to bring some in ten minutes, but none came. I asked again at 7 a.m.; they said they'd sort it by 8, but still nothing. Breakfast was terrible and the service was poor. Think twice before booking. I don't recommend this hotel.
