The hilltop setting gives Dar Onsar a calmer neighborhood, with restaurants, hikes, and transport all about a 5-minute walk away. There's also a convenience store right across from the house. Ottman is friendly and shares useful local advice. My brother and I stayed about 1 month ago and had an unforgettable visit. Ottman and his family were great hosts, and the house was beautiful. The room was simple and nice, and cleanliness was good. I prefer this more authentic experience to a typical hotel.

The terrace is beautiful, and the place is nicely designed. They serve Moroccan breakfast, and one rainy morning they even brought it to my room. For somewhere in the Medina, it was relatively easy to find. Just remember that it's a traditional house without a heater, though there is warm water for showers.

Do not stay here. My bedding smelled musty, and in winter I was freezing because there weren't enough blankets. The hot water wasn't working, so I had to wait half-dressed in the shower while two men tried unsuccessfully to fix it. It felt humiliating. The facilities were horrible for the price, and I experienced none of the Moroccan hospitality other reviews describe. There was only one man around, and he seemed unsure what he was doing. I was very disappointed. If I could do it again, I'd book a private room in a hostel.

The room was basic and shared its bathroom and kitchen with others, but it was very clean and had a great view. Service was excellent.
