The riad’s lovely design and warm service made for a peaceful stay in the medina. There’s no elevator or air conditioning, though, so the stairs and summer heat can be challenging. Still, the atmosphere makes it worth it.

I was nervous since I’d never had a massage before, but the staff and facilities were excellent and accommodating. It turned out to be a fascinating experience. I’d have liked the details explained beforehand, though. Otherwise, I’d recommend it to anyone looking to relax.

Meryam made up for a disappointing private hammam by scrubbing my whole body properly after Leila had barely used any soap and spent just five minutes on less than half of it. When I mentioned the poor job, Leila sighed and left Meryam to do her work, then left the hammam. She wasn’t professional or friendly. I went with two friends, and none of that made for a good experience. Big thanks to Meryam for making up for Leila’s work and attitude.

At Dar L’Oussia Spa I could pay by card, which was a relief since I couldn’t find another spa in Essaouira that accepted cards, everywhere else seemed to be cash only. The service was professional, polite, helpful, and accommodating. The amenities are stylish, clean, and beautifully done, with a distinctive look and a high standard. Hofida gave me wonderful massages. I highly recommend the spa treatments, as well as the restaurant, bar, and room services.
