We had a massage at the spa, and it was the best one I’ve had in Essaouira. The staff were very helpful and even helped me book my next stay. Our room was magnificent, with lots of space, a large bed, and plenty of extra linen. The bathroom had a big shower and a gigantic tub for two. Breakfast was delicious, with a wonderful view of the sea and sunrise. Many thanks, and see you in December.

It was a positive, memorable stay at Riad Mumtaz Mahal. The place has beautiful tiles, rich colors, and interesting architectural details, though it doesn’t feel modern or trendy. There isn’t a modern cafe, but plenty of coffee options are nearby. The location is convenient for both the medina and the beach, and our room was clean. We could hear some outside noise, but managed it. We didn’t use the spa. Their card services were down, so we had to pay in cash.

I had a hammam and massage package with a friend, and we both came away extremely relaxed. We were washed and scrubbed before the massages. Everything was clean, and the venue had a lovely atmosphere. Both masseuses were kind, friendly, and professional. Be prepared to be naked apart from the little modesty pants, and thoroughly taken care of.

I was a little unsure after reading the latest Google comments, but my stay at Riad Mumtaz Mahal was genuinely good. The riad felt clean, peaceful, and relaxing from the moment we went inside. The spa was excellent, professional, and well maintained, and it was the highlight for me. Staff were welcoming and kind, and the prices felt very reasonable for the spa and calm surroundings. I’d return, especially for a couples’ stay.

The towels smelled bad, which is completely unacceptable in a spa. Our massage at Mumtaz Mahal Spa was a terrible experience too, with amateur technique and no professionalism. It didn’t feel like the therapists were trained. Very disappointing, and it felt like a scam. Save your money and go elsewhere.
