This riad kindly let us leave our luggage for several hours both before check-in and after check-out, at a nearby location. Another place we stayed refused to store our bags or give any extra help or information, so this riad’s kindness really stood out. Thank you so much!

Mangom, the manager, and Omar went out of their way to make us comfortable in this pretty, well situated Riad. The breakfast was tasty and a great start to a day exploring the stunning coastal city. The staff were wonderful and kind, and the whole stay felt comfortable. A couple of times when I walked with Mangom, he seemed almost like a minor celebrity, knowing and getting along with everyone who passed. It was a great experience, and I’d highly recommend it.

Mangom at reception was very friendly. The Riad has a beautiful fountain sculpture and colorful decoration, plus a rooftop with a sea view. It’s in a good spot in the medina.

The two staff members worked hard and were excellent, especially the young man Omar. Breakfast was good, although it was the same every day with no choice. We were on half board, and dinner was adequate but mostly chicken. Despite being in a fishing port, fish seemed hard to get. We wouldn’t recommend it, and ate out for the last three nights to get some variety. Our bedroom was clean, with a comfortable double bed and a single. We had a suite with a sofa and chair, so there was plenty of space, but the bathroom was disappointing. The bath was difficult to get into, and you had to hold the shower by hand or water went everywhere. The terrace wasn’t worth visiting. The website photos were untrue and must have been taken years ago. It was dirty and sandy, with old, neglected furniture. This isn’t the Hilton, the former Princess Palace, or the lakeside Greek hotel we’ve stayed in with Love Holidays. The Essaouira one is quaint and practical, but basic and looking very tired. We wouldn’t recommend staying more than two nights. Sadly, we stayed ten.
