Riad des Palmiers

There are helpful papers with recommendations for things to visit. The rooms aren't very roomy, but they're comfortable, with a bathroom for each room, and they were tidy and cleaned every day. There's a pool, which I think is the only one in a medina riad. Big up, it was a wonderful experience!

It's pricier than most riads, but the pool and excellent service make it worth considering. The breakfast attendant pays close attention to what you like, and the owner is easy to reach by phone for almost any request. I'd recommend it for groups, whether you're travelling alone or with a small group. It's perfect!

Fouzia at reception is kind and helpful, and Blanka is very attentive on the phone. We recommend this riad near the edge of the medina, close to its main sights. In the second-floor apartment, the two brighter bedrooms open onto a large terrace with clear views over a quiet public garden and, farther away, Mogador's main beach. The garden-facing rooms offer a break from the noise at night. Keep in mind that no place in the medina escapes the muezzin's five daily prayers over loudspeakers, with the first around 5:00 a.m. In a traditional riad, rooms open onto a central well that carries sounds and smells, and the doors don't really give guests a private, sound-isolated space. A good stay therefore depends a lot on the hosts' etiquette.
