My girlfriend and I stayed here in September 2017, and it was a real shame to see how neglected the place had become. The walls were crumbling, the fountain didn't work, and the rooms were awful and moldy. The beds felt damp all the time, ants were all over the room, and there were stains on everything, some of them looking like blood. Breakfast was terrible too. Nobody spoke French or English, and the owner was never around, only reachable by phone. Paying with Visa wasn't possible, despite what the website said. Maybe this was a nice place years ago, but it has really gone downhill.

This is one of the more traditional riads in Essaouira. The building is over 200 years old and still feels full of life, with a lovely garden, four turtles, two chameleons, and birds around the place. It makes for a really special stay.

Mohamed was such a wonderful host that the little inconveniences barely registered. It made for the best experience!
