The location was great for exploring the Medina, and the remodeled riad had a nice mix of old and new. It even has a rare elevator. Breakfast was tasty, varied, and plentiful. But our ocean view room was never cleaned, and sand kept blowing in and piling up because the door jamb didn’t block it. Then came the “credit card machine doesn’t work” scam. After we handed over cash, it took 45 minutes of arguing before they’d give us a receipt. From our experience, it seemed they were either cheating the owner or the tax man.

Breakfast was freshly made and delicious each morning, and the bed was so comfortable. We had a lovely ocean view from our room. The staff were wonderfully friendly and helpful. The owner also arranged a taxi from Essaouira airport and someone to carry our luggage to the Medina gates. I’d happily recommend staying at this Riad to anyone visiting Essaouira.

Our hosts were so accommodating, and the food was a real highlight. We ate both breakfast and dinner there, and it was some of the best food we’ve had. As a Moroccan, I found it assuredly authentic. We stayed in the ocean suite and the hortensia room. The suite was spacious and very cute, with a private balcony. This charming riad is right in the Medina, within walking distance of everything, and the views are beautiful.

Those ocean views from Riad Mellah were amazing. Essaouira itself is a great place, and the staff here made the stay even better. They were lovely and so helpful, always smiling and ready to help. Couldn’t have asked for nicer people.

AMAL and MOHAMED were wonderful, especially AMAL with her lovely smile. They’re such kind and friendly people. The RIAD itself was amazing, with a fantastic sea view. Breakfast was delicious too, with fresh juice, an omelette, and pancakes with Nutella 🥰🥰
