The personnel are absolutely fantastic, breakfast is copious, and the Riyad is well located near everything you need in Essaouira. But the clock tower, mosque, clubs, and inviting rooftop patio where people chat late into the night make it really difficult to sleep if you’re a light sleeper. Definitely bring earplugs. Be careful with the hot water so you don’t scald yourself, though its pressure and heat are better than in most hotels in Morocco.

The place looks beautiful and the location is good, but the rooms have serious damp and ventilation problems. Winter means no heating at all, wet walls, and a mildew smell everywhere. Maybe it’s lovely in summer. Staff seemed uninterested and were somewhat rude at times, though your experience may differ.

The price is lower than some alternatives, but everything here feels like lesser quality. The whole place, including the rooms, is old and needs renovation. Airflow is worse than in other riads, which adds to the humidity problems. Service wasn’t great, and breakfast was just okay.
