Le Grand Alcazar

The bathroom had a bit of a mildew smell, though it was a small thing beside the beauty of the riad. Our room was ornate and gorgeous, and the whole place and staff made this feel like a once in a lifetime experience. The staff took care of everything we needed, even walking us to the shops so we'd get there safely. It's also conveniently close to taxis and tour pickup points. Highly recommend it!

I agree with Stephen Shostak's earlier review. We were supposed to be met at our drop-off in the old town, but nobody from the staff showed up, so we had to drag our luggage through the streets to the riad. There were staff when we arrived, but they seemed inexperienced and unable to handle things. Nobody mentioned a room upgrade. The rooms and service were poor, nowhere near what I'd consider luxurious. For this price, there are much better places, like the beautiful Riad Fes. I'd strongly avoid Le Grand Alcazar. It's shameful that the property still hasn't offered a refund, even though we never actually stayed there.

We had a lovely fairy-tale stay. The owner and staff were friendly and eager to help, and we were welcomed with mint tea and a bit of information about the house. It used to be the residence of the first minister, and it's beautiful. The riad is in a quiet part of town, about a five-minute walk from the bleu gate and a very nice souk. The couscous was delicious, and breakfast came with freshly pressed orange juice, pancakes, French bread, good butter, homemade jam and honey, plus eggs boiled, sunny side up, or scrambled.

Le Grand Alcazar was one of the best parts of our time in Fes. The staff were so kind and made sure we had everything we needed, even giving us a free room upgrade. They really go above and beyond and make you feel at home.
