The service at Chaq Chaq really stood out. The staff were so friendly and helpful, arranging breakfast at a time that worked for us, even at noon after the wedding party. They kept bringing water without us asking, and stayed up late because they knew we'd be back late and someone needed to open the main door. We were really impressed. Breakfast was very good, with sweet and savory options and different breads, and they brought more whenever we asked. The internet was good too. The riad itself is impressive, especially for our first visit to Morocco. The terrace was lovely for the view and breakfast, and it was easy to find the main gate. I wanted to stay in the Medina for the experience, and it was an experience in itself, but getting to visits elsewhere in town felt too complicated. I wouldn't choose to stay in the Medina again. Our room was large and distinctive, but dark, which seems to come with riad rooms whose windows face the courtyard. Ours was on the ground floor opening directly onto the lobby, so I felt a bit uncomfortable when people were there, as it felt like they were in the room.

Mustapha was very sweet and tried to help wherever he could, but the stay was a huge letdown. We booked for New Year's Eve during our honeymoon, hoping to enjoy the rooftop, and instead found a dump: stuff everywhere, furniture falling apart, and feral cats around. We left a night early and moved to another Riad. It felt overpriced, rundown, and poorly managed. The website describes organic bathroom products and a range of food, but we got a grimy dispenser containing a mix of soaps, mold on the basins, and no food beyond breakfast. Breakfast was bad pastry and bread warmed in a microwave, with nothing cooked fresh, no eggs offered, and premixed juice. The room's air conditioner was noisy and ineffective, the shower water went everywhere, and the room hadn't been changed over. The rooftop door was left open at night, so feral cats came down and fought outside our door. The place seems to have been renovated in 2017, with no money spent since. The website and Instagram photos still show it from that renovation. The lobby was freezing in both temperature and atmosphere, with the lights off during the day and nobody at reception. We got no introduction to Fes or advice on getting around or where to avoid, and once waited outside for 10 minutes before anyone let us in. The Riad is hard to identify from outside, with no sign or lights, and the area felt very dark and sketchy. Don't stay here.

The terrace looks out across the whole medina, and Chaqchaq itself feels like a peaceful, leafy oasis right in the middle of it. The atmosphere and decor are beautiful, down to the smallest details, and the service was outstanding. We'll remember our stay for a long time and highly recommend it to anyone looking for somewhere in Fes.

Abdul was spectacular, helping with breakfast, dinner reservations, and even fixing my wife's broken shoe. The Riad's details catch your eye every time you come back. It's one of the most beautiful places we've ever stayed, and we'd gladly return. Thank you!

Abdel and the team gave us a wonderfully warm welcome at this lovely riad in the heart of the Medina. The rooftop view is breathtaking, the restoration is beautiful, and the bedrooms are luxurious. The food was delicious too. Highly recommend!
