Hotel Batha has plenty of open space around the courtyard, a welcome change from the crowded Riads and dars. It used to be the British consulate, and there’s a British pub in the courtyard. The pool is refreshing, though it isn’t heated. You’re right in the Medina and close to the Blue gate. The room made me happy, and given how old the buildings and rooms in the medina are, I wasn’t expecting perfection. I’d recommend it.
The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the bathroom was good, which makes it a shame the nights were so bad. The first night, loud music from the bar and drunk people kept things noisy until 11:30 p.m. The next night, a nearby club could be heard until 3:30 a.m. I barely slept. It felt more like a bar or nightclub surrounded by hotel rooms than a hotel, and I’d avoid it.
The location is convenient, but the cold in winter was hard to deal with. The rooms have air conditioning, which luckily can heat them, though it took a full day to reach a decent temperature. Breakfast was the worst I’ve had. You have to ask the staff to bring eggs or cheese, and they handle pastries with bare hands.
Khadija and Fatah deserve a special mention for being kind and professional. The whole team at Hotel Batha gave me a warm welcome and showed great hospitality. I highly recommend the place and wish everyone there continued success.
We had a good stay overall. Our room was large, though the toilet kept shifting because it wasn’t secured properly. Depending on the room, music from the bar or restaurant can carry on late. The hotel will store your bags for free and can call a taxi to the airport. It’s centrally placed, within walking distance of the Medina and plenty of restaurants. The hotel itself is beautiful, and the staff were helpful.
