The location was great and easy to get around on foot. Staff were incredible, friendly, helpful, and accommodating, and our room was comfortable and clean. The shower didn’t drain properly and water backed up, but it didn’t spoil the stay. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. What a quaint Riad in Fes. I’d recommend it.

Riad Amor is beautiful, just steps from the markets, and the rooftop has a gorgeous view. We spent three nights there and enjoyed every minute. Our spotless rooms were cleaned daily, and service was available around the clock. From the moment we arrived, everyone made us feel like family, welcoming us with Moroccan tea and cookies. Even the cats were kind and accommodating, and the staff made sure we were comfortable and had what we needed. A special thank you to Mohammad, the older gentleman who served breakfast each morning, and to the sweet older woman in the kitchen for the delicious food. When we mentioned we liked Moroccan tea, Mehdi went out of his way to buy some for us to take home. Mahmoud played us a nice song on his guitar and was very helpful. I highly recommend this family-friendly place, full of culture, for a stay in Fes. We were beyond satisfied.

The hosts were very kind and helpful, and recommended an excellent guide for a tour of the old Medina. We stayed in December, when the nights outside were cold, but the air conditioning kept the room warm and comfortable for sleeping. I loved the thoughtful little details inside, and the rooftop view was lovely. I think the pool would be especially enjoyable in warmer weather too.

Based on what happened to us and on other reviews I’ve read, overbooking seems to be a common practice here. On the same day we were due to arrive, they told us they’d cancelled our reservation and offered other riads that weren’t at the same level or in the same locations. You could end up without a reservation, so I strongly suggest finding somewhere more reliable.

We couldn’t sleep at all the first night. Our room was on the top floor, almost 40 steps up, and extremely hot. The receptionist warned us that even she couldn’t sleep at night because of the heat. We’d had the air conditioning on all day, but it made no difference. The next morning she moved us to a room with two air conditioners on the same floor, and it was still too hot to sleep. We stayed in another riad in Marrakech and had an amazing experience there, so this was a problem with Riad Amor, not riads in general. We told reception we’d booked a tour to Chefchaouen and would get back after midnight. She said that was fine and told us to ring the bell. At 12:30 we were still knocking, for an hour, until a neighbour came out to help. Eventually we called our driver guide, who contacted his own boss and the riad owner. About an hour later the chef came to the door, half naked, and said it wasn’t his responsibility because all the other hotel staff had left. It’s a pretty house at the end of an alley, next to local homes, but it felt like a hostel, not a home. I wouldn’t stay there again, even if that awful incident hadn’t happened.
