Les Merinides

The terrace view is really nice, and the reception staff were very friendly. But this isn’t a 5 Star Hotel. Maybe it was 40yrs ago, but now it’s 3 Star at best. Stay away from the buffet at dinner and breakfast. The food was tasteless and served up for busloads of Tourists. If you miss dinner, don’t worry, they’ll serve the leftovers for Breakfast.

There’s plenty of room for improvement here. Our room looked over Fes and was comfortable, but smelled strongly of cigarette smoke when we arrived. The toilet seat wobbled because it was loose, and the bath shower was hard to get out of safely. Breakfast was chaotic, with items randomly unavailable, and our credit card, which had worked at every other hotel, wouldn’t work here. The pool shut at 7.00pm, and the large third-floor space where our group had a lecture was far too hot. This is not a 5 star hotel.

The room was really uncomfortable because of a strong sewer smell they couldn’t get rid of. The bathroom sink was clogged, and the bedframe was partly broken, though they did manage to fix it. There were stains all over the carpet, too. Food was nothing special, and drinks were quite expensive by Moroccan standards, with a big bottle of water costing 3€. Don’t be fooled by the nice lobby.

The room was uncomfortable, with a bad bed and pillows that had NO protectors. It wasn’t very clean either: hand marks all over the bathroom door, a basin plug stuck down, and I wiped the light sockets myself. Some sockets were coming out of the walls. The food was very mediocre. The communal areas were nice, though the ladies’ room had no WC seat, and the view across to Fez was worth seeing. My room was at the front of the hotel with no view. Rooms should be clean, as that’s how gems spread. Shame, since I had 2 nights there.
