Coming home from Riad Rouia with so many sweet memories and renewed faith in humanity says a lot about this stay. You’re welcomed like family and cared for like royalty. The rooms were impeccably appointed, the riad was beautifully decorated and clean, the food was delicious, and it had the best hammom in Morocco. I’ve tried more than my share of spas around Morocco, so I can say that with confidence. Fatima was warm and helpful from the start, including with planning our travel days. Hakima carefully prepared fresh, homemade meals, from squeezed juice, crepes and omelettes to the breakfast and dinners we happily ate in abundance. The biggest surprise was meeting Rachid, our professional driver. He went out of his way to take us to the obscure places we asked to see off the beaten track. When I mentioned casually that I’d been overcharged 2k for gold jewelry in Marrakesh, he was immediately concerned and set out to help me get justice. He stayed in touch for a week while I travelled north and guided me through the process. He even arranged for a colleague to collect the cash in Marrakesh and send my refund through Western Union. Rachid became my guardian angel. His sincere desire to see fairness, along with that of the many Moroccans involved, says so much about his character and theirs. I’ll never forget Rachid, Fatima and Hakima, and I’ll see you all when I return. The tour services with Rachid were great too.

The airport shuttle cost 30 euros for a 20-minute drive. A street taxi would have cost 30 MAD. That was the last straw on top of an already disappointing stay. This is an overpriced bed and breakfast, far from the Medina, and the service was some of the worst I’ve experienced in Morocco. The host made it clear, in her own words, that this was not a hotel. I hope Google corrects the listing and removes the “5 stars hotel” description, because it’s by no means a five-star hotel. The family lives on the premises and prepares breakfast, but they require it at a set time. We were on holiday and wanted some flexibility, so we suggested a window between 8:30am and 9:00am. That wasn’t acceptable to our host, who insisted on an exact time. Breakfast itself was very disappointing, with no fruit at all, just bread, bread and more bread. For the same price, I could have booked a real five-star hotel.

The people here made us feel at home, and after long days out exploring, the bath and massage were a lovely way to unwind. We also really enjoyed the food. We ordered dinner on three evenings so we could sample different Moroccan dishes, and everything was delicious. The rooms and shared spaces were beautifully decorated. We loved our stay.

We'd happily come back to this Riad. The owner was so available and kind, beyond what we expected. Breakfast was a highlight, especially the different homemade breads. It was the best breakfast of our whole trip around Morocco. The place is furnished in a lovely traditional Moroccan style and makes a great base for visiting Fes. Absolutely recommend it.

The owner was fantastic and went out of their way to help make our visit enjoyable. They can also arrange excursions and guided trips around Fes and other cities, which I'd definitely recommend. The hotel itself still has us impressed by how lovely it looks. Our room was clean, and the room service was excellent. We had a great time here. Thank you!
