Riad Boustan

The riad’s main hall is nice, and breakfast was pleasant. Our room felt a little unfinished, and the drainage wasn’t great. Its location is convenient, close to a road leading to the taxi and bus drop-off, so hauling luggage isn’t a problem like it can be if you stay in the center. A taxi to the train station costs around 15-20 dirhams. Good value and location.

Those doors really do look like they have animal faces on them, so you’re not the only one who noticed. It’s a lovely place to unwind after spending hours lost in the medina.

The location was good, though the interior felt a bit worn.

Mouhchine welcomed us so kindly. He speaks English and is happy to explain the city, the religion, and the riad itself. There’s a document in the breakfast room saying it seems to have been built around 147 AD, see photo. The courtyard inside is especially beautiful, and the larger rooms are lovely and clean. Breakfast is simple, with bread, jam, honey, butter, coffee, and tea. We paid €20 for the large room on the top floor and got an upgrade, which is part of why I gave it 5/5. The riad is near the medina entrance, which can be tricky to navigate. Use R'cif Square as a reference point, and your feet might thank you for avoiding a long walk through the maze.
