Zalagh Parc Palace

We were charged for a bottle of water even though it was included in our package, and the food was mediocre. The hotel is nowhere near five stars, maybe two at best in my opinion. I’m guessing it hasn’t been renovated since it was built. Our room’s air conditioning didn’t work, and the technician we asked for did nothing. There was a moldy smell, dirty carpets, and a dead cockroach in the hallway. The shower curtain looked like it hadn’t been washed in months or years, the fridge was dirty, the toilet seat was broken, and our bathtub wouldn’t drain. The place wasn’t clean at all. A waiter even put a piece of dropped bread back in the basket with the other bread. The hotel was a big disappointment. I don’t recommend it.

The lobby is beautiful and traditionally Moroccan, the staff are friendly for the most part, the rooms are spacious, and the food is delicious. There’s also a big supermarket right across the street. But this place doesn’t feel like a five-star hotel after our five nights here. They allow smoking in the lobby, and the room rugs and carpets were extremely dirty, probably white once, maybe last century. The bathroom is awful despite being large: the sink and shower drain terribly, the bidet is so close to the toilet that anyone taller than 1.65 can’t fit their knees, and the toilet itself is cheap and poor quality. Our room key card demagnetized about three times a day, so I had to go to reception every time. Housekeeping took our towels every day without replacing them, and I had to hunt them down and ask for towels. WiFi was really bad and basically nonexistent in the second half of the day. I think they have just one router for the whole huge building. The front desk woman refused to help order a taxi because there were only two of us. She said they only arrange cabs for larger groups and told us to flag one down from the sidewalk. I’ve never experienced anything like that at a five-star place.

We stayed two nights, and the heating wasn’t working. I asked reception three times but nothing was done. Everyone in our group had the same issue. The open buffet was very weak. Service was good apart from at the front desk.
