L' Amandier Hotel & Villas

We spent a long weekend in May at Lamandier, about an hour from Marrakech, and the drive through local villages was enchanting. The villa was sublime, with beautiful attention to detail and local materials used in a contemporary way. I especially loved the lemon trees in the private interior garden. The botanical gardens, with rosemary, lavender, and flowers, were a joy to walk through on the way to the tennis court. My wife and I came for some serious downtime together, with meditation, yoga, and hikes around the stunning local area. The scenery is incredible, and the architecture is amazing. The hotel pool looks out toward the Atlas foothills, and the light and sunsets were simply staggering. We could use our own villa pool or join other guests at the main hotel pool. We met some very interesting people and had great conversations over delicious dinners. Thanks, Hein, Anwar, and all the team. We’re going again soon.

I had to file a claim with American Express to get my deposit back, and luckily I’d paid with that card. They took just over US$2,000, then ignored my emails for many weeks without responding or issuing a refund after I cancelled well within their cancellation period. If I’d used another card, I don’t think I’d have seen that money again.

The scenery around this upmarket hotel and residential complex is stunning and mountainous. As of 16/10/2016, only two villas were still available, and the hotel, priced at MAD3000 per night, was expected to open soon.

A really good chef and great service, along with fantastic valley views. This boutique hotel sits in the foothills of the Atlas Mountains.
