Our room was large, beautiful, and clean, and breakfast was such good quality that I ate more than I should have. Every staff member we met was extremely friendly and helpful. We had a great two-night stay at Dar Souran, tucked down narrow alleys in the old medina, just steps from shops and restaurants. For dinner, we highly recommend Kebdani! We were in the room on the rooftop terrace, which has lots of windows. The early morning call to prayer was very loud, as was a nearby rooster that didn’t seem to know when sunrise was. Our friends in a lower-level room didn’t have that problem, so I’d recommend requesting a room off the rooftop terrace.

Our stay was perfect. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful, and the location near the Petit Socco in the old medina is secluded yet convenient, hard to beat.

We’re grateful to Mr. Hakim, the Boss, and Mohamed for helping us when my mother refused to stay in the room we’d booked, even though it had a lovely view and opened onto the upper terrace. No other room was available, so the Boss and Mr. Hakim arranged for us to move to nearby Qasr Al Zahia in the same area. It was already very late, and they asked for no extra payment beyond what we had paid. On checkout day, the Boss came over and handled the checkout arrangements with the management at Qasr Al Zahia.

Everyone was so warm, and the kitchen ladies were really sweet. Hakim was genuine, kind, and funny. The riad is stunning, and it gave us a wonderful welcome to Morocco. Even my mom, who’s not easily pleased, was impressed. We’ll always hold a special place in our hearts for it. The terrace was stunning both day and night, though the wifi worked better there than in our rooms, where it was spotty. The rooms were a bit dark too, and could use brighter bulbs or another lamp.
